Emerald ash borer beetles were found in North Carolina, and a statewide quarantine has been issued. These beetles have destroyed millions of ash trees in the United States since it was first found in Michigan in 2002. Under the quarantine, ash trees may not be relocated to areas that are not under the quarantine.
