Alabama residents were perplexed to find big mounds of ants floating on Dog River in Alabama. The ants link together to stay afloat when the water rises, and people take notice. One resident scooped up some of the ants of a leaf to show just a small sampling of ants from an ant raft.





Rising Waters Bring Floating Ants

Homeowners came outside to find multiple floating ant piles gathering in the water. The ants link amongst themselves to create a moving raft. It happens when their colony gets flooded. They can stay afloat for weeks or even months until things dry out.
